David Bearie!

Hey guys! I made a scroll! what  kind of scroll you ask? well, a scroll that tells a story, and the story i wanted to tell today is the not so well known tale about David Bowie and his alternate life growing up in Bear universe. Yes, little did you know, he was actually raised by bears, became a world famous popstar, and then left this earthly world to go back to wherever he came from with his lovely wife Iman.
So , here is the scroll, presented in all its scroll glory, scrolling by. The medium is ink and the scroll is about 40 feet long. Enjoy!
Singular images to come later.

I can't tell you which one, although once its out I will give some more information. But I am allowed to release some drawings I did for the storyboard work. This was my first time really storyboarding, and I had a lot of fun! Although it was a TON of work with school and homework going on as well.
There were about 450 drawings in total for the entire movie! whew!

Animals at central park zoo

This is Gus, Central Park Zoo's polar bear, hanging out with some penguin friends. Of course they are toasting marshmallows, because I am not sure there is anything better than that when the zoo is closed. Looks cold too. Unfortunately Gus is a recent widower. His old lady was name Ida and this piece is dedicated to her.

Moving

Sorry I haven't up but life has been THE CRAZY for about a month now. Quick update:
I am now living in NEW YORK CITY. Yup, that's right! I transferred to Parsons on a very last minute offer from their illustration dept! I am missing friends in Baltimore, but the world is a big place and keeping old connections while making new ones is important to me. You may ask, why New York? Why now? Well I have thought about this a lot and at this point in my life making connections with Illustrators and Film-makers has become essential in my work. If not now, when?? So to get a jump start on jobs and artistic happenings, I have moved to possibly the most inspiring and happening place in the world. Who knows what will happen? So far everything is good!

I have started a couple new projects that are currently on their own sites, but I will continue to post work here, and hopefully get a website up soon! One project I am very excited about is my Illustrating for Craigslist project on Tumblr! Go check it out!

I will post those works here as well, but they really are fun to see on their own blog. So here's a teaser of that:

touch up on my heaven

Just finished doing some touch ups. The bear's lines are a bit darker, the Beatles faces are a little more distinctly Beatles and my legs are a little longer, can you tell?

3.10.2011

We're gonna do it with this one too..

Again, the beginning is a sketch, me crowd surfing on bears at a Beatles concert :

the sketch
next i filled in some basic colors, just to get an feeling going. i also outlined some characters
i ended up using the sketchy outlines for the bears, i think it balances well with the "photoshopped" look. Also Beatles got some hair and skin color.
Lastly i changed the levels so the bear outline shows up better, and i colored in some other elements. i ended up leaving the stage as is from the sketch, because a friend of mine really thought it worked well. we'll have to see what my teacher thinks tomorrow.
